गरीब बच्चों को स्थिति को देखकर प्रोफेसर देसाई हुए इस कदर व्यथित कि बच्चों के लिए मांगने लगे ट्रेन में भीख।

गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाने के लिए आपने कई तरह के प्रयासों के बारे में सुना होगा। लेकिन शायद आपसंदीप देसाई के बारे में न जानते हों जो गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाने और उनके लिए स्कूल खोलने के लिए लोकल ट्रेन में 'भीख' मांगते हैं। वैसे इस महान काम के लिए पैसे मांगना 'भीख' तो नहीं कहा जा सकता, लेकिन रेलवे पुलिस संदीप को भीख मांगने के जुर्म में ही पकड़ती है और उनके ऊपर केस हो जाता है। मूल रूप से मुंबई के रहने वाले संदीप देसाई पहलेमैरीन इंजिनियर थे। उसके बाद उन्होंने एकमैनेजमेंट कॉलेज में पढ़ाना शुरू कर दिया। वहएसपी जैन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मैनेजमेंट ऐंड रिसर्चमें प्रोफेसर थे। उन्हें प्रॉजेक्ट के सिलसिले में ग्रामीण इलाकों का भ्रमण करना पड़ता था। तब वे देखते थे कि सुदूर ग्रामीण इलाकों में ज्यादातर बच्चे गरीबी के चलते स्कूल का मुंह नहीं देख पाते हैं। इस स्थिति से वे बेहद दुखी हुए और 2001 में श्लोक पब्लिक फाउंडेशन के नाम से एक ट्रस्ट का गठन किया।

ट्रस्ट बनाने के बाद संदीप देसाई मुंबई के स्लम इलाकों में गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाने का काम करने लगे। इस ट्रस्ट के जरिए उन्होंने अपने साथियों की मदद से मुंबई के गोरेगांव (ईस्ट) में 2005 में एक स्कूल स्थापित किया। इस इलाके में स्लम इलाके के कई सारे बच्चे स्कूल नहीं जा पाते थे। उनके लिए आसानी से शिक्षा की व्यवस्थाउपलब्ध हो गई थी। धीरे-धीरे स्कूल में पढ़ने वाले बच्चों की संख्या700 से ज्यादा हो गई और क्लास 8वीं तक पढ़ाई होने लगी। हालांकि यह स्कूल 2009 में बंद हो गया, क्योंकि उस साल शिक्षा का अधिकार कानून पास हुआ था और इस कानून के तहत प्राइवेट स्कूलों को गरीब बच्चों के लिए 25 प्रतिशत सीटें आरक्षित करने की व्यवस्था कर दी गई थी।

सभी प्राइवेट स्कूलों को गरीब बच्चों को एडमिशन देने के साथ ही फ्री में एजुकेशन उपलब्ध कराना था। शुरू के कुछ सालों तक देसाई और उनके साथियों ने प्राइवेट स्कूलों में गरीब बच्चों की जगह सुनिश्चित कराने के लिए काफी काम किया। क्योंकि गरीब परिवार के पैरेंट्स को मालूम ही नहीं होता था कि सरकार ने उनके लिए ऐसी कोई व्यवस्था शुरू की है। इसके बाद उन्हें लगा कि जहां प्राइवेट स्कूल नहीं हैं वहां के बच्चों के लिए भी कुछ किया जाए औऱ उन्होंने महाराष्ट्र के सूखा प्रभावित जिले यवतमाल में पहला स्कूल खोला।

पहले तो संदीप देसाई को कॉर्पोरेट सोशल रिस्पॉन्सिबिलिटी के तहत कई कंपनियों ने पैसे दिए लेकिन धीरे-धीरे उनके स्कूल का दायरा बढ़ता गया और उन्होंने राजस्थान के उदयपुर और बिहार में भी ऐसे ही स्कूल खोले। जिसके लिए संदीप को और पैसों की जरूरत पड़ने लगी। इस जरूरत को पूरा करने के लिए संदीप मुंबई की लोकल ट्रेनों में यात्रियों से मदद मांगने लगे। वह बताते हैं कि यहां से उन्हें अच्छे-खासे पैसे मिल जाते हैं। संदीप कहते हैं कि अगर आप किसी को स्कूल भेजकर शिक्षित करते हैं, तो आप उसे जिंदगी भर के लिए अपने पैरों पर खड़ा करते हैं।

आज उन्हें हर महीने 5 लाख रुपये मिल जाते हैं। संदीप कहते हैं कि देश के नेताओं और जनप्रतिनिधियों ने उनकी कोई सहायता नहीं की है। ग्रामीण इलाकों में स्कूल चलाने के लिए उन्हें किसी तरह की मदद नहीं मिली। यहां तक कि स्कूल बनवाने के लिए पानी भी उन्हें खुद से खरीदना पड़ा। आज भी वह स्कूल में बिजली लगवाने के लिए सरकारी विभाग के चक्कर काटते हैं। संदीप के स्कूल में बच्चों को मुफ्त शिक्षा के साथ ही खाने और कपड़े भी मिलते हैं। महाराष्ट्र के यवतमाल में सदाकड़ी, नईझर गांवों में उनके स्कूल हैं।

संदीप कहते हैं, 'मेरे स्कूल में पानी और बिजली का पानी कनेक्शन भी नहीं मिला। हमने जेनरेटर के लिए खुद से व्यवस्था की।' फिल्म अभिनेता सलमान खान ने संदीप का काम से प्रभावित होकर उनसे संपर्क किया और कहा कि जब तक वे एक्टिंग करियरमें हैं उनकी मदद करते रहेंगे।

ट्रेनों में भीख मांगने के चलते संदीप को कई बार मुश्किलों का भी सामना करना पड़ा। शुरू में भिखारी कह कर उनका खूब मजाक उड़ाया गया। रेलवे सुरक्षा बल ने एक बार उन्हें ट्रेन में भीख मांगने के जुर्म में पकड़ भी लिया था। हालांकि बाद में उन्हें फाइन जमा कर छोड़ दिया गया। लेकिन उन्हें फिर से एक बार रेलवे पुलिस ने पकड़ा तो वे कोर्ट चले गए। अभी मामला कोर्ट में ही है। 

संदीप ने कहते हैं, कि उन्होंने समाज को शिक्षित करने के लिए एक एनजीओ बनाया है और वे उस एनजीओ के लिए कहीं से भी पैसे मांग सकते हैं। अब मुंबई की लोकल ट्रेन में लोग संदीप को अच्छे से पहचानने लगे हैं और इनके मिशन के लिए उन्हें सैल्यूट भी करते हैं।

With her passion for teaching Roshni sensed that there was a huge scope for improvement in teaching methods given the lack of good teachers and good schools providing qualityeducation.

There is a lack of quality education, at the same time it is quite expensive which makes it unaffordable for many parents. Therefore, the motto was to provide free education while maintaining good quality. I wanted to reach students in remote areas, I wanted to reach students who can’t afford expensive education, I wanted to reach the parents who want to guide their kids to help them learn. I knew Internet has solution to everything. An online platform was the best option to reach people.

 Born in a middle class Bengali family, with extremely supporting and encouraging parents, Roshni was motivated to be good at everything. Her mother, a homemaker always wanted her to excel, especially when it came to a career.

Roshni was good in academics in school as well as in college. She was the topper in her school, and a Science merit scholarship holder in College. She did her M.Sc in Physics from Hansraj College, Delhi University.

Talking about the journey so far she says, “It has been an extremely satisfying journey. I spend the entire day doing what I wanted to do. That is happiness for me. Words can’t express the happiness I feel reading the appreciation from students on my channel.”

However, her biggest challenge has been time management. “I struggled during the initial years spending all my weekends creating ExamFear videos, and a couple of hours at night on the weekdays. However, now that I have resigned things have become simpler.”

Her husband’s support and belief in her capabilities and the response from the students keeps her going.

Roshni’s motto in life is –

क्यूँ लकड़ियों के बीच में पापा लिटाये है,
सब कह रहे है लेने उनको राम आये है।
पापा ये दादा कह रहे तुमको जलाऊँ मैं,
बोलो भला इस आग को कैसे लगाऊं मैं।
इस आग में समा के साथ छोड़ जाओगे,
आँखों में आंसू होंगे बहुत याद आओगे।
अब आया समझ माँ ने क्यूँ आँसू बहाये थे,
ओढ़ के तिरंगा पापा घर क्यूँ आये थे ।
